ever read 1984 by george orwell? if you haven't, let me put it in a nutshell for you...the governments of the world went berserk at some point and the whole place is divided into three basic nations. "big brother" is always watching, and even the vocabulary has changed into something called newspeak. the words are like "oldthink", "newthink", etc, etc...you work where you are told, they own history...you get the picture, right?
okay...so why is all this relevent? i was watching the cbs news last night, and there was a general on talking about the war in afghanistan. he said that it was unlike any other war and anyone who was comparing it to an older war, well that was "oldthink". used that very word. now i ask you, is that not scary? for those of you who have read the book, does that not put a chill to your bones? big brother is just around the corner guys...whose joining the resistance with me? just call me emmauel goldstein!
