Matt (the guy in the England shirt with the ginger mop!) has been the most recent member to Veto and has added his vocals to the group to finally make them a complete 5 piece. Yes we are finally a finished product! As of July 2002. Matt began his musical career by first studying classical guitar when he was in year 5 of West Ashtead Primary school. He carried on studying this difficult and often taxing guitar playing style into his early years of secondary school (Therfield) Untill he finally stopped because his teacher was bonkers!! Whilst studying classical guitar, Matt achieved Associated Board grades 1 and 2 of which he passed both with merit. He was very pleased! After finishing his classical guitar lessons he didnt really know what he wanted to do and so both his acoustic and electric guitar became UNused for several months. Then when friend Chris Spearman (now guitarist of WhiskyMule pictured on the left) began taking electric guitar lessons about 2 years ago, Matt also decided to join him and they now share lessons every week with a teacher who is not so crazy! (although he does wear Spice Girls and Pooh Bear t shirts!) Matt's guitar playing has been improving ever since and he now has a vast repertoire of songs which he is able to play. However, the guitar is not Matt's main talent, his vocals are what he really is quite good at. To quote from one music teacher Mr. Pratt 'Matt could make a living from his voice' has always inspired Matt to continue singing. Matt studied music at GCSE where he achieved an A IN Music performances singing and playing guitar on the song 'Paint it Black as a solo and also Lenny Kravitz's 'Fly Away' as an ensomble piece with Daniel Pattemore on keyboard and former band mate Simon Staples (now bassist and singer of Legacy) In September 2001 Matt and 100 other young hopefuls were selcted out of 2,500 applicants to have an audition for CBBC's 'The Next Big Thing' for which Matt performed Green Day's 'Time of Your Life' and The Rolling Stones' 'Paint it Black' with a backing track produced by both Matt and his uncle at his now infamous shed! Despite not getting through to go on the actual show, Matt feels that this was not due to his vocal talent but rather the songs he had chosen to sing may not have been totally suited to the target young audience which the show was aiming for and anyway most of the other people who actually got on the show were absolute b******s! Matt also feels that had Veto decided to audition instead of Matt singing on his own, then Veto would definatly have got through to the show and probably would have won the damn thing as well! After leaving Legacy (due to an unfortunate incident) Matt is now firmly involved with Veto and knows that they will go very far in the future. His main influences include his uncle Nick (guitarist in Dry) who inspired him to carry on with music and also the Smashing Pumpkins and any non pussy only doing this cos we love the girls rock band. By the way if n e hot girls want to f*** me Then e mail me!!!!!!! CHEERS FROM MATT!!! VETO RULE!!
