The Inhabitants

*Pixies*

Cheerful and mischievous. They often take the form of a hedgehog. They are also well known for their pranks. They adore music and dancing.

*Los Aluxes (Ah Loo Shus)*

These faeries live in the temples of the ancient peoples in Mexico. They resemble gnomes. Ah loo shus means "little people".

Usually found in the mountains. They often steal not only property, but it is said women and children as well. *

Dryads*

Spirit fairies of the trees.

*Gnomes*

They prefer the forests. They are the guardians of sacred grounds, locations and monuments. They have a weakness for gem stones and things that glitter. They are the knowers and are extremely clever.

*Sylphs*

Spirit fairies of the air. They are transparent and elusive. They seem to be surrounded by a glow.

*Selkies*

Usually found in seas and oceans. They first appear as seals but become beautiful women when they shed their skin.

*Undines*

Spirit fairies of the water. Usually found in forest pools and waterfalls. They have beautiful voices and can sometimes be heard singing over the sound of the water.

*Tree Fairies*

These fairies live in every tree. They look after the tree and control its energies.

*Garden Fairies*

You will find these fairies among the flowers dancing and playing wearing flowing gowns with transparent wings. At dawn they pour out blessings upon the world.

*Rock Fairies*

These fairies are very wise.

*Fire Fairies*

There are two types of fire fairies: Flame Spirits and Elementals. They have the ability to create and destroy.

*Phooka*

These are Irish goblins. They are usually friendly but they like to play pranks.

*Fir Darrig*

These fairies delight in rather gruesome forms of pranks. It might be best for one to leave these alone.

*Asrai*

These fairies are very delicate fairies that melt away into a pool of water when captured or exposed to sunlight.

Trees Of The Fae

Some trees are very important to the fae and they are very protective of these trees. If harm comes to one of these special trees, the perpetrator will feel swift retribution, usually by becoming iIl. The location of these trees is very important to the fae. These fairy trees are normally found on a sharp hill or slope. It must be growing inside the banks a fort inside a fairy ring especially if near a boulder or stream.

Elder

Planted outside the house for protection.

Ash

Druid wands were made from ash twigs.

Hawthorne

Favored by the Fae.

Hazel

Used in water divinations.

Rowan

Protects against bad spirits.

The fruit of life for the Sidhe.

Fairy Plants And Herbs

As far back as the Celts, some people had blamed sickness and disease on the power of the fairies. They believed only a "Fairy" Doctor that knew fairy magic could bring about the cures for the assorted maladies that plagued them. Fairy Doctors had to adhere to very complex rituals; herbs had to be gathered at the correct phase of the moon while reciting incantations. It was customary to pay in silver for a potion and a gift was given for a charm.

Although fairies can be troublesome at times, they're still nice to have around. Below are ways that may attract their attention. Plant ragwort. The stems come to life and the fairies use them as horses. Collect leaves, feathers and pretty stones. The fae use these as jewels. Leave a bowl of milk and some bread by the door. Fill your home with sweetly scented flowers. Plant thyme in your garden.

Ways To Protect Against Pranks Of The Fae

As said before, fairies are very clever and mischievous. Below are ways that may protect against to much of their attention. Place shoes with their toes pointing away from the bed. Place something made of iron near the front door. Tie a red ribbon above the front door. Hang daisy chains around your home. Hang bells in your home. Turn clothes inside out.
