No DJs there to play with, the music they are playing sucks, BOREDOM sets in!

7.30p - IT'S SHOWTIME!

After some initial reports on KRYSTAL, I was running scared. I had heard her song, "MY RELIGION" on the Burger King CDs and absolutely adored her, but based on reviews I had read, heard and interviews conducted with her, I was terrified. I tried to see her at Club Sound Wave, but I was too old! (A phone number helps, and so does answering the phone 107.9 The End!) So I was left to wonder and wait, until now. She opened with "MY RELIGION" and she was in a floor-length black sequined hood similar to the one Anna Paquin wore as Rogue in the movie "X-Men." You couldn't see anything but her lips and nose. Then she threw it off. She was absolutely nothing like I pictured. She was in black vinyl pants, a black tanktop with something in red on it, a black sequined, elbow-length, fingerless glove on her left hand, and a black jacket with a faux-fur collar. She seemed to have glitter everywhere. (A girl after my own heart!) Her hair was short and black. In fact, she reminded me of the singer PINK (looks wise) before PINK grew her hair out. Singing wise, there was no comparison. She performed four songs: "MY RELIGION," "ANGEL ON MY SHOULDER," "SUPERGIRL," and a cover of the old JACKSON 5 hit, "I'LL BE THERE." Her voice was astounding. Her music if I had to classify it would be Christian Pop, which would make her a very radical Amy Grant! Performance wise, she reminded me of a young ELTON JOHN, pounding on the ivories instead of tickling them. And walking on the white piano was reminiscent of GARTH BROOKS' video "THE RED STROKES." KRYSTAL is a mic-stand hog. She loves that mic to stay on the stand, so therefore she'll act like STEVEN TYLER of AEROSMITH and drag that stand everywhere! All in all, after seeing her live, I'm not scared of her anymore! As my sister ASHLEY screamed out and got acknowledged (hey, she's twelve and has the lung capacity of a wind machine), "You go girl!" KRYSTAL's album, "ME AND MY PIANO" hits record shelves in July 2001.
