This morning I was online while typing a letter to a friend of mine. I had the radio on and I heard the following, "Think you know about recycling? Be caller number five now for a chance to go to Wango Tango 2001." Wango Tango is this big two day show in Los Angeles. It's gonna feature Aerosmith, Backstreet Boys, Bee Gees, Blue Man Group, Dream, Joe, Krystal, Ricky Martin, Samantha Mumba, Wayne Newton, Shaggy, Jessica Simpson, 3LW, Tyrese, and Vertical Horizon, among others. So, I pick up my cell phone and dial the number to Mix 95.1. Then I realize that I forgot to dial the area code. I'm out of my calling range so I have to dial the area code for EVERY number. So I dailed the number again and waited. I was thinking as I was doing this that there was no way I was gonna be caller number five. Then the phone rings. I'm thinking that they already got their winner. Then the following happens:

TERRY: Mix, hi. You're caller number five. Who's this?

ME: This is Becca.

TERRY: Hi Becca. How you doin'?

ME: Oh pretty well.

TERRY: Alright. Well, Becca this could get you qualified for a really neat trip down to Los Angeles.

ME: I know. Backstreet Boys are gonna be there.

TERRY: Aahh yeah, plus a whole buncha other people. Alright. You're breaking up! Are you there?

ME: Yeah.

TERRY: Okay. Alright, here's your question: "The average glass bottle manufactured in California contains how much recycled glass? Is it A: 5%, B: 10%, or C: 38%?"

ME: Hm. I'm gonna go with C.

TERRY: 38%?

ME: Yes.

TERRY: You are a winner!

ME: Yeah!

TERRY: [laughing] You now qualify. We're gonna have a drawing coming up soon for tickets to see Wango Tango 2001. It's a two day concert down in LA. If you win you get a roundtrip airfare from Sacramento, two nights hotel accommodations, tickets for both days of the concert, ground transportation from the airport to the hotel and the hotel to the concert. Everything!

ME: Wow!

TERRY: You could be on your way from Mix 95.1!

ME: Oh wow! Thank you Terry!

So I am now qualified to win a trip to Los Angeles to see all the aforementioned groups perform live! This is one of the coolest things that has happened to me in a while! I have NEVER been the correct caller nor have I EVER qualified for any kind of big prize like this before! So wish me luck in the drawing! So far this has been a pretty good year!
