Sad Songs Say So Much

I'm sitting here watching my kitten run around the room terrorizing my clothes thinking. DIAMOND RIO's song ONE MORE DAY was just on the radio. Casey Casum's American Top 20 at number 11. I got to thinking about it. DIAMOND RIO seems to come out with songs right when I need them. Back in June of 1998 right before I moved to Chico and my friend Joe moved to Nevada, I was falling in love with him. I don't know how it happened, but it did. Well, the day he left, I sat down on the couch and turned on CMT. That's where I saw DIAMOND RIO's new song YOU'RE GONE. It was a "hot shot" because it was new. I listened to the song and by the end of it, I was in tears. It seemed to say exactly what I was feeling. Then just this past January, right after Brad moved home to Orange County, I heard another new DIAMOND RIO song. It was ONE MORE DAY. I only caught a piece of it on the radio, but I immediately called my best friend Heather. We talked for a bit and she said that it wasn't like he had moved to China! It made me feel better. Now I'm starting to hear ONE MORE DAY on the pop stations. I don't feel that DIAMOND RIO has crossed over like FAITH HILL or LEANN RIMES or even SHANIA TWAIN, but it's nice to hear the song on a pretty consistent basis. It doesn't remind me of Brad anymore, which is good. I'm so close to writing to the group and thanking them. It seems that SIR ELTON JOHN was right. Sad songs do say so much.
