How I Conquered 2 Radio Stations

On September 26, 2000, BSB's new single, "SHAPE OF MY HEART" was set to premiere world wide at 11:21 PM in everyone's time zone. (11:21 refers to the date their new album "BLACK AND BLUE" will be released, as is it CHRIS CARTER'S [creator of "THE X-FILES"] wife's birthday.) Well, being I live in a little college town that never gets anything on time, I called up our local top 40 station, Colors 92.7. I talked to Boomer, the DJ at nine and asked him if he was going to premiere the new song that night at 11:21. He told me that he would premiere it earlier than that. At 9:30 that night, he premiered the song! I called him back after the song was over and he asked me if I wanted to hear it again. As if I didn't want to hear it again! An hour later, he played it again!

Two weeks later, I called up Mix 95.1 and asked the DJ, Terry, if he had the new single. (This is a soft rock station and it sometimes takes about a month before they have new singles.) Well, he sounded like he had it and told me he'd play it for me. So I listened to the radio at work for two hours.

He never played it.

So I got online and emailed the general manager of the station, asking him if he had the new single. He does the morning show, and I knew he was a BSB fan. Well, the next morning, it was "Self-idulgent narcisitic radio DJ day" (meaning the general manger, Dave, Terry, and his sidekick, Molly were going to play what they wanted.) So at 6:05 in the morning, they come on and Dave says he got an email from "BACKSTREET BECCA" (me) asking for the new BSB song. Well, Molly was way too excited because they had a "fan," especially for six in the morning. So they play it at like 7:30 or something. Then, I don't hear it on that station for a week.

One week later, I'm listening to Terry right before my biology lab class starts and I hear him say that he's going to play BSB in the next hour. So I listen during class and at 2:35 PM he plays "SHAPE OF MY HEART", about giving me a heart attack! Over the next two days I hear it on that station twice. I heard it all the way through three days in a row. The last day was Thursday of last week, and I haven't heard it since.
