For the face I recommend only going a couple shades lighter than your natural color to give yourself a washed out look unless you want to get the geisha look. blending at the edges is key. A cheap substitute for expensive white loose powder is talc powder (i.e. shower to shower ) it is the same thing basically and costs a hell of a lot less. to remove redness using a loose powder with a greenish tint works. Adding shadows to your face can be done by lightly dusting under your cheekbones with a grayish eye shadow, don't overdo it or people will keep telling you that you have dirt on your face.
