24 is based on a new concpet that each hourly episode is an hour of the characters day. Therefore we see what the characters actions are for the entire day.

In 24 hours counterterrorist agent Jack Bauer (Sutherland) must stop an assassination attempt on a popular African-American presidential candidate (Haysbert). He and his chief of staff (Clarke) must also find a "mole" in the agency who's in on the plot. What's more, Jack's teenage daughter (Cuthbert) has broken curfew to go partying, and his wife (Hope) has gone to find her, putting them both in harm's way. And the clock keeps ticking.
