Things to see in London
Welcome to London! The largest city in Western Europe. It has been compared to New York City in our United States. Here are some basic historical facts about the city of London:
It was first founded as a Roman colonization called Londonium. It later became the seat for the central monorchy of Europe with such famous members of royalty like Queen Elizabeth I, Queen Victoria, Prince Charles, and the late Lady Diana. Some famous (or infamous) characters that made London their home include William Shakespeare, Henry VIII, Charles Dickens, Charlie Chaplin, Jack the Ripper, Tony Blair, Margaret Thatcher, and lots more.
I was only in London for four nights but I strongly recommend you see: Houses of Parliament, the seat of British government with it's unmistakably symbolic clock tower with the bell called Big Ben. Another is St. Paul's Cathedral, the large church that dominates the London skyline and where all Royal weddings are held. Don't forget to check out the Tower of London, the famous fortress/castle where many were sentenced to their death. Adjacent t this sight is the famous Tower Bridge which has also become symbolic of the city. The many more sights listed above are also worth a treat.
