Direction of acceleration and velocity:
A motion of a car is depicted in this animation. The car gains speed as it moves down the incline and thus the car accelerates. As it goes along the straight section of the track, it slows down a little - decelerating. Along the curve, the car changes direction. The arrows show the direction of the velocity and acceleration. Velocity is always directed in the same direction as that of the car. If the car is accelerating, acceleration has the same direction as the direction of the car. If it is slowing down, the acceleration has an opposite direction to that of the car.
