CHAS’ & RUBY’S |
In Canterbury, we lodged at the Swallow Falstaff Hotel
“The Swallow Falstaff Hotel is a former 15th Century Coaching Inn with additional
accommodation in a recently restored [adjacent] Woodmill. The hotel is in the heart of
beautiful, historic Canterbury, home to England's most impressive cathedral. Dine in the
superb Othello's Restaurant where you can enjoy traditional European cuisine or
enjoy light meals and bar snacks in the Four Seasons bar.”
into the hotel’s COURT YARD.
The “LOBBY” |
to the Hotel’s Restaurant was right off of the Lobby / Reception area.
Look at the I LUV IT! |
Given Ruby’s professed preference for “LUXURY” lodgings, I was quite worried
about this NO-HOT-WATER glitch at our trek’s FIRST ACCOMMODATION!
Thankfully, she immediately put my fears to rest.
Ruby explained that she expected HISTORIC lodgings to be
SOMEWHAT PROBLEMATIC:
Few electrical outlets … poor plumbing … and the like.
She very clearly indicated that her LUV of HISTORIC (“interesting”)
lodgings far exceeded her basic desire for “LUXURY” lodgings.
So, Ruby was quite happy (as was I) to heat water with the electric
tea “KETTLE” to accomplish face and hand washing during our
ONE NIGHT STAY in this INCREDIBLY HISTORIC BUILDING!
