CHAS’ & RUBY’S
2006 UK TOUR:

Saturday, May 27th
Canterbury Cathedral
TOMBS

Unless otherwise indicated, ALL pix were taken by CHAS & RUBY!

Canterbury
Cathedral

is
LITTERED
with TOMBS

marked with
incredibly elaborate
stone or brass
carvings
and
sculptures.

I especially liked THIS ONE … Her husband died AT SEA.

And, the TOMB SHOWS HIS BODY being tossed overboard!

I suppose I could look it up
… but, I haven’t!
So, I don’t know the
TOTAL NUMBER of
INCREDIBLY ELABORATE
AND GORGEOUS
TOMBS
that are located within
The
Canterbury
Cathedral.

Suffice it to say that
THERE ARE
TONZ
O’ THEM!

THIS TOMB was MY FAVORITE!

The tomb of “The BLACK PRINCE”

[Scanned Pic]
“Edward of Woodstock, Prince of Wales
… (June 15, 1330 – June 8, 1376),
popularly known as The Black Prince,
was the eldest son of King Edward III
of England … and father to
King Richard II of England.
He himself never ruled as king,
pre-deceasing his father by one year
and allowing the throne to pass
to his son Richard, a minor.”

[From another website:]
“Prince Edward of England was called
"The Black Prince."
He was one of England's ablest
military commanders in the
Hundred Years War.
His nickname probably was
derived from the color of his armor,
but nobody knows for sure.

Is this – or is this NOT – the most gorgeous effigy EVAH?!
