CHAS’ & RUBY’S 2006 UK TOUR: Monday, May 29th KIDZ’ STUFF at HEDINGHAM CASTLE

So, to occupy you while they all download, HERE’S THE STORY:

All the USA “JOUSTS” I’ve ever seen, have pretty much been the same thing …
Four or so folkz riding around on horses, entertaining the crowd with
whack-at-each-other-stuff, both on- and off-horseback.

HEY! Don’t get me wrong!
I takes LOADS o’ dedication, and practice, and skill, and fussing about (and expense)
to create and SAFELY perform a show of four or so folkz riding around on horses,
whacking at each other both on- and off-horseback!
Shoot: Just taking care of the horses is a major task (let alone the expense).

So … PUL–LEAZE KNOW that I am NOT
“dissing” American Jousting Companies!

It’s just that, this UK Jousting Company – The Knights of Royal England –
made the very BRIGHT decision to do a whole KIDZ THING
to start off THEIR “JOUST” demonstrations.

Hey. I’m a KAT parent! Yet, even I was impressed and happily entertained
by them creating stuff FOR THE KIDZ TO DO FIRST! LOL

I don’t know whether or not THE JESTER was a “member” of
“The Knights of Royal England.”

But, he certainly offered Kidz and their parents a lot of entertainment.

PRE- “JOUST,” he was in the area, doing JESTER STUFF for the kidz.

As the JOUST TIME approachedeth, he “Warmed Up” the crowd: Prancing about on STILTZ … making and distributing balloon animals … even getting a few kidz INTO the arena to DO stuff!

BRAVE SIR JESTER! Some o’ the kidz had GUNZ!

He had a whole “Whack the Jester With Balloon Weapons” gig, too.

Ruby took pix of “CUTE KIDZ” almost wherever we went.

BEWARE, Joanna! She’s really into an
“I want GrandKidz” mode! LOL

Soon … the JESTER retired from the field,

and out came a “NASTY KNIGHT” … sauntering about, growling,
and looking all WICKED and stuff.

THEN, the Joust “MC” called ALL the KIDZ to come INTO THE ARENA, and up to the presentation stand.

[BTW: Their PA SYSTEM was absolutely TOP DRAWER!
No microphone “squeals” or episodes of “sound loss.” USA Jousters should
definitely pay more attention (cash) to having such a good PA system!]

Once the KIDZ all lined up before the presentation stand …
They COSTUMED many of them, and then “ARMED” the little buggers
with various foam swords, cudgels, and miscellaneous paraphernalia o’ destruction.
[Be afraid! Be VERY afraid!]

They all participated in taking an “OATH OF SERVICE” TO THE KING …

Then … the NASTY KNIGHT led them in a PARADE around the entire arena.

Even though they didn’t get to do anything “destructive,” the kidz LUVED being in the PARADE! And, Hey! Happy Kidz = Happy Parents!

IN SUMMARY:

What a very simple way to get the kidz “excited” and “involved”
– right off the bat –
without risking HARM to anyone!
US JOUSTING TYPES should steal this idea!
