Like many other very LARGE (and very famous) Castles, EDINBURGH CASTLE
requires AN ENTIRE DAY to fully explore!
There are almost a dozen separate “buildings” within the “Castle” such as:
St. Margaret’s Chapel … the Storehouse for the Castle … the HOSPITAL …
the “Governor’s Ward” … Troop Baracks … Edinburgh Castle PALACE …
and the like!
Additionally, there are several “MUSEUMS” within the “Castle” such as:
The “National War Museum of Scotland” (which may or may not be the same thing as
the “Scottish United Services Museum”) … and the “Edinburgh Castle War Memorial.”
Here is another very good Link for Edinburgh Castle. Text from that link:
“A majestic landmark which dominates the capital city's skyline just as it has dominated
Scotland's long and colourful history Edinburgh Castle is the best known and most visited
of our historic buildings. Perched on an extinct volcano and offering stunning views, this
instantly recognisable fortress is a powerful national symbol, and part of
Edinburgh's World Heritage site.”
As usual, I didn’t plan to spend an ENTIRE DAY at Edinburgh Castle. So, I didn’t see it
all. But, I saw a LOT of it including the Scottish Crown Jewels and Regalia!
“is the most spectacular show of it's type in the world”! It involves a multitude of Scottish Pipe & Drum Bands, Highland Dancers, International Pipe & Drum Band Guests, as well as a very diverse selection of other International Guest Performers. (For instance; in 2006, the “Jiangxi Xishan International Kung Fu Group” from China provided “an energetic display of traditional martial arts”!) |
I can’t tell how many performances are offered! I can’t tell whether they are nightly,
for THREE WEEKS in August or only on THREE SATURDAYS in August!
But, the TATOO is held in August, every year. And, every year
EACH SEAT it is SOLD OUT by the end of the previous January!
Since Ruby & I visited Edinburgh in JUNE, we couldn’t attend the Edinburgh Tatoo.
[Picture me sporting a very big, pouty, lower lip HERE! LOL]
But, You’all Should KNOW THIS:
The Edinburgh Tatoo dates would be a fyne “focus” around which to PLAN a Trip to Scotland!!! Just make sure you’ve snagged tickets before you set your travel dates!
[Tickets seem to range between £13 ($25) to £40 ($78) per person.]
