CHAS’ & RUBY’S
2006 UK TOUR
Saturday, June 3rd:

RUBY Charms
The DALHOUSIE PIPER
& We Get A
PRIVATE TOUR!

The Pic above was captured from a FABULOUS 20-page
Dalhousie Brochure available Online!
Andrew Sharp is
Dalhousie Castle’s PIPE SERGEANT,
“STEWARD,” and
AMBASSADOR EXTRAORDINAIRE!

In addition to performing duties as Piper for every Wedding
held there (duties that extend the entire duration of the
wedding!), “Andrew the Piper” plays for all the Dalhousie
SCOTTISH BANQUETS!:
Welcoming folks upon arrival;
Beginning each Banquet by “Addressing The Haggis” with
Robert Burn’s famous “Ode to the Haggis”; and
Accompanying the Scottish Highland Dancers who perform.
But, even better than THAT: Andrew the Piper acts
as a “Steward” (“AMBASSADOR”) for Dalhousie Castle.
He personally welcomes any guests who happen to arrive
while he’s about, regaling them with Dalhousie historic
information in an incredibly professional manner.
If he has the time, Andrew gives guests PRIVATE
guided tours of Dalhousie – free of charge!
Everyone who meets him falls deeply and madly
in LOVE with Andrew the Piper!

I can’t remember what
I was off doing
(perhaps it was during
my trip to the Ladies Loo).

But! Ruby was the first
to meet Andrew.

When I joined them,
I fell in love with him, too!

As I wrote on the DIRECTORY page:
No matter how much money Dalhousie Castle
proprietors pay Pipe Sergeant Andrew Sharp, his
SERVICE to Dalhousie Castle and its Guests
is worth 10 times that amount!
I dearly hope they realize that.

After entertaining and educating us in the Foyer, Andrew took us on a
PRIVATE TOUR of the Castle, beginning with the
CHAPEL where the Dalhousie WEDDINGS are held.

Color us FORTUNATE!A Wedding was scheduled THAT afternoon!

[Ruby Pic Below]

Andrew explained that we wouldn’t be allowed to “attend” the Wedding.
But, he was happy to let us romp about in the Chapel before folkz arrived.

Next, Andrew took us to the WEDDING BANQUET ROOM.

Can we say, “BRIDE & GROOM THRONES?” I think we can!

Oooh!

Check out the
very elegant
Wedding
Cake!

I luv it! They left a portion of the original Castle Wall exposed in a corner.
Weird. The original wall looks CURVED in this pic – doesn’t it?
I can’t remember whether or not I noticed that while I was THERE! LOL
[That’s a PARTITION behind the chairs!]

After the Wedding Banquet Room,
Andrew led us to other
areas of the Castle,
providing a constant
historical dialogue
– all of which truly WAS
incredibly interesting.

He was soooo knowledgeable!

It was almost as though
ANDREW had LIVED
the history
he shared with us.

[Insert TWILIGHT ZONE
THEME MUSIC
HERE!]

Unfortunately, I couldn’t enjoy the FULL Dalhousie Castle PRIVATE TOUR.
I had to leave and head off to my HACKING APPOINTMENT.

Lucky Ruby likely enjoyed another HOUR of Private Tour …

THEN she SURREPTITIOUSLY “ATTENDED” THE WEDDING!!!
