CHAS’ & RUBY’S
2006 UK TOUR
Sunday, June 4th:

Chas pix o’
ROSSLYN CHAPEL
Exterior & Grounds

When it’s actually “OPEN” to visitors, Rosslyn Chapel Entrance is through

the Old Stables building right next to the Church Services gate.

The Old Stables building also houses the Chapel SHOP!
Since we left before it opened, we missed this. Bummer!

You can see
the north end of
the Old Stables
next to the
Church Services gate
in this pic.

Below is a close-up
of the Knight’s Head
atop the gate.

It’s really a shame to see the Chapel covered by scaffolding & the steel canopy.

But! As you can read below, it is there for a very good reason –
and future visitors will certainly appreciate it.

In March of 2007,
Rosslyn Chapel was awarded
a restoration grant of
7 million pounds!
(Over 14 million dollars!)

Lets hope that the
first order of biZness
is to get the roof replaced
so that canopy can
GO AWAY!

The grounds are rather sparsely populated with a few shrubs and a few

Recumbent Gravestones. (Stones that lie down instead of stand up.)

But, OH! The
Earl of Rosslyn
Tomb
was
GORGEOUS!

And its
INSCRIPTION
(I thought)
was
quite interesting.
