Mistress CHAS’ 2006
Nebraska City Renaissance Festival PIX
The INAUGURAL Nebraska City Ren Fest was held on
Friday, April 28th (kidz day); Saturday & Sunday, April 29th & 30th.
Mistress Leenda (aka “Wicked Wickie”) and I attended on Saturday, April 29.
The weather was VERY DRIZZLEY. According to the Faire’s Producer, Sir Andrew:
“I asked for sunshine but it was placed on backorder.
I have already put in the requisition for sunshine at next year's Faire.
Hopefully it will be shipped and arrive in time.”
MISTRESS CHAS’ 2006 NCRF REVIEW:
- ‘Twas a VERY SMALL faire.
But HEY! ‘twas its FIRST YEAR!!!
ALL Faires start out small.
- It had NO MUSICIANS!!! (Our only TRUE “complaint!”)
- The Faux Castle Gate ‘twas low enough to make me feel like DUCKING.
(Sir Andrew reports it will be vastly improved and expanded next year.)
- SUMMARY: All the folkz who WERE there were terrific FUN
and, we had a FANTABULOUS TYME in SPITE of the dastardly drizzle!
FOR THE 2007 NCRF; Sir Andrew reports the following:
- The overall size of the 2006 Festival was directly proportional to my wallet.
Next year I am hoping to get some serious sponsors on board.
- I will be canvassing various colleges in the area looking for local musical talent next year.
[Leenda & I will be encouraging Sir Andrew to hire HOT ROSIN! …
As well as The Lincoln Irish Dancers!]
- We are looking to double the number of vendors next year.
- There will be a children's area for games and possibly crafts.
- We will have a tavern with benches and tables for people to sit, relax and eat at.
No alcohol sorry city property.
However we will have a winery present, hopefully with tasting opportunities.
- The MaRS encampment will be larger and more interactive.
[Methinks that “MARS” stands for “Middle Ages and Renaissance” …
and is a “reenactor” group. I could be wrong! But, I don’t think so.]
The Midlands Historical Arts Foundation is the “HOST” of
The Nebraska City Renaissance Festival
So, We shall luk to that organization to let us know about the 2007 NCRF.
Here are the FEW PIX I TOOK!
|
|
THE
PINK PIRATE
who
PURVEYED
PICKLES!
He was one o’ the first
NCRF characters we became
acquainted with upon our arrival!
This kid ‘twas tonz o’ fun!
I don’t know whether or not
he’d had experience WORKING
Ren Fests before. But, because
he did so WELL, I needs must
suspect that he IS a “PRO”! LOL |
Apparently, he preferred Wicked Wickie to ME! LOL!
The first PERFORMERS we enjoyed were
The SCALLYWAGS!
A “Pirate Comedy Show”
After their first performance, we MET the SCALLYWAGS!
That’s jolly Master “Big-N” with me above.
FROM The Scallywag “CREW” info page:
“Sebastian Guyman, the ships pilot, is affectionately called Big 'N'.
No one knows what the "N" stands for but we think he may be spelling it IN.
Don't get too attached to him though, he still has to answer as to why
the ship ended up in Kansas.” [Plus, he’s MARRIED!!!]
We cavorted with the SCALLYWAGS ‘twixt performances.
And, Master Peg Leg didst win Wicked Wickies’ HEART!
FROM The Scallywag “CREW” info page:
“Peg Leg O'Brien of the infamous O'Brien brothers that perform in ‘Heavy Metal Combat’
pulls so many duties he doesn’t have time to pull on that peg leg of his.
He hangs with us so we will do it. Peg lost his leg in a horrific accident in which his
father was run over by an Albatross and died before he ever met Pegs mother.
Ya. We thought it was fishy too, but we aren’t going to question it until we
find out what he's using in place of that lost leg!”
As we left, Wicked Wickie recalled her brief tryst with Peg Leg O'Brien …
… Who had LEFT his MARK upon her heaving bosom!!!
THAT’S IT, FOLKZ!
Unfortunately, the Nebraska City Ren Fest
was CANCELLED after this!
(Apparently, it kept too many folkz from
attending other events offered that weekend!)
