On the PRO website one can see guidance on tracing army personnel records and lists of the PRO holdings. There are no individual records on line, however.

An excellent site which lists the names and details of officers of the British Army who died in the various campaigns of the period concerned. It starts with North America in the 1750s and runs through to Northern Ireland and Kossovo 1999. Also includes some officers who died as a result of disease, murder or natural causes, mainly in India
An excellent site which lists the names and details of officers of the Royal Engineers. Also includes some details of NCOs and Other Ranks and some officers and men of other countries' engineer corps. Very useful site alway worth a search for anyone connected with the Engineers

An on-line, searchable index to the graves of the many Canadian & Newfoundland soldiers who died serving their country. In some cases photographs of the soldiers concerned, and other memorabilia are on line. An excellent Canbadian Government site.

I have uploaded two pages of uniforms, insignia & badges of the Royal Navy & Royal Marines for the period concerned
Many photographs of Military men from the 19th century onwards. Some identified others unidentified. Also various other interesting military data. Bias toward the Leicestershire Regiment but covers many others as well. Worth investigating.
Several of the sites listed above contain photographs of soldiers, airmen, 'planes, tanks etc but this site contains a large collection of such photos which may be of interest. The photos are not necessarily Australian; you can find British and other nationality photos too. It also has a very good search facility which can find photos of named individuals as well as types of aircarft, tanks etc. Well worth visiting if you have an interest in military history.
