AGNES PALING (nee HENDERSON) (1885 - 1959) with her two children, ARTHUR & ANNIE
Taken when the family was living at 2 St.Hilda’s Cottages, Whitby, Yorks. About 1915. Arthur (known as Artie) was then about 5 and Annie about one year old. The young Artie was an accomplished local artist and many of his pictures are still in the family. This ability probably came from his mother who had been trained to paint in her childhood, ‘though the Palings were also an artistic family but more involved with the carving of jet ornaments.
