How the Alliance League Works
The points system for the Alliance League is generally seen as quite complicated to work - that's what the scorer's there for! I have tried to explain it below:
- Batting Points: Any side reaching 100 runs gets a point, and another point when reaching 125, 150, 175 and 200 (a maximum of 5 bonus points). No extra points are recieved after 200.
- Bowling points: Bonus points are given when two wickets are taken, so a point at 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 wickets.
- Winning teams get a guarenteed 15 points, and then batting and bowling points are added on - no side can gain more than 25 points.
- No points are given for losing the game, but the side losing still gains the batting and bowling points.
- A winning draw occurs when the side batting second is not dismissed and does not get the side batting first's score. When this happens, if the side batting second gets less than 90% of the side batting first's score, the points are split 11:1 in favour of the side batting first, plus batting and bowling points.
- If the side batting second gets 90% of the side batting firsts score, and are undismissed, the points are split 7:5 in favour of the side batting first, plus batting and bowling points.
- When the scores finish level, both sides recieve 10 points and any batting or bowling points.
