The club has been in existence for over 100 years, and photos dating back from its early days adorn the walls of the new clubhouse, built in 1993 after a falling branch from an oak tree nearly destroyed the old one. The opening was marked by the visit of Courtney Walsh to the club in 1993.
Despite this long history, the recent years have also been probably the most successful. Aswell as winning the King's League and the League KO cup in 1997, James Walker became the only known club member to represent the county in the same year, against Holland, taking 6 wickets behind the stumps. The first year ever in the Alliance League has been completed as well.
Although there is much evidence of competitive cricket at the club, it still retains the "traditional" cricket club image. Everybody has to do at least one tea every year, and our midweek games have become notorious for the 2 hour lunch at the local pub, the Fox. Most of the cricketers like nothing better than to go here after the game - even if it is only to be fined!
