Hi! Welcome to my tribute to the best movie and book of all time, Gone With The Wind! It is an unforgetable novel written by Margaret Mitchell. Released in 1936, it sold more than 50,000 on the first day. It won the 1937 Pulitzer Prize. Now available in many languages, it is still as popular as day one.

All 1037 pages are wonderfully written. Within the pages, rests the memorable saga showing the hardships and effects of the Civil War on the South. A woman, once a young southern belle, fights these hardships, vowing never to be hungry again. All her life she has loved Ashley Wilkes, who married Melanie Hamilton, a kind, loving, honorable woman. Married three times to men whom she did not love, Scarlett O'Hara Hamilton Kennedy Butler finally realized at Melanie's death that it was Rhett Butler whom she really loves.

The GWTW film, running 222 minutes and one of the first in color, premiered in Atlanta on December 15, 1939. Directed by Victor Fleming, it was the first color film to win an Oscar. It was best picture in 1939. Vivien Leigh (Scarlett O'Hara) won as best actress and Hattie McDaniel (Mammy), won best supporting actress and Victor Fleming won best director.

These great works, the movie and the book, have been popular for over half a century, and always will be!!
