William A. GALENTINE Sr. was born about 1816. He died 13 Sep 1873 and was buried in
New Bethlehem Cemetery, New Bethlehem, Clarion County, Pennsylvania.
My dad had an old piece of paper with the names of my great grandfather, Abraham
Lincoln Galentine, and his brothers and sisters. This paper had them all listed
as "Gallatin". Most of the information I have found lists them as "Galentine", although
I have found references with the name "Gallatin", as well as other variations.
William Sr. was a Private in Company D, 103rd Pennsylvania Volunteers Infantry from
25 Sep 1861 through 29 Aug 1862. He was discharged on a surgeon's certificate.
William married (1) Rebecca (Elizabeth) ?????. Rebecca was born 23 Mar 18??. She died 1863.
They had the following children:
2 F i. Christeena GALENTINE was born 18 Mar 1840. She died 26 Apr 1923.
+3 M ii. Abraham Lincoln GALENTINE was born 16 Sep 1844 and died 11 Aug 1928.
4 M iii. William A. GALENTINE Jr. was born 1 Apr 1845. He died 3 Aug 1862
and was buried in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
William Jr. was a Private in Company D, Pennsylvania Volunteers
Infantry from 13 Nov 1861 through 3 Aug 1862 when he died of disease
contracted during the war. He is listed as "Galentine" on the War
Memorial Wall outside the Armstrong County Courthouse, Kittaning,
Pennsylvania.

7 F vi. Martha J. GALENTINE was born 21 Jun 1852. She died 10 Jun 1886.
+8 F vii. Mary Elizabeth GALENTINE was born 27 Jul 1854.
+9 M viii. Arthur James GALENTINE was born 30 Sep 1858 and died 1 Mar 1930.
10 F ix. Rebecca Ann GALENTINE was born 21 Nov 1859.
William also married (2) Lydia BUCHANAN on 12 Jan 1868. Lydia was born 29 May 1837 in
Kittaning Township, Armstrong County, Pennsylvania. She died 9 May 1923 in Pittsburgh,
Allegheny County, Pennsylvania and was buried in New Bethlehem Cemetery, New Bethlehem,
Clarion County, Pennsylvania.
I was unable to find a headstone for Lydia, but there is room beside his grave and it
is possible that not only his wife Lydia, but also there daughter Lydia are buried there
with him.
They had the following children:

12 F xi. Magdalene B. GALENTINE was born 12 May 1871.
