Ellery was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II from 1942 - 1945.
He was a member of Company A, 314th Infantry Regiment, 79th Infantry
Division in France. He was wounded in battle in July 1944 in the
Normandy-Rhineland Campaign and was awarded the Purple Heart.
Although Ellery never married, he had a companion of some 40 years,
"aunt" Helen M. Stark Hoffman.
Ellery was not married to Helen Hoffman STARK.
James also married (2) Ophelia BALLARD on 28 Jul 1937. Ophelia was born 1905. She died 1971 and
was buried in Luthersburg Union Cemetery, Luthersburg, Clearfield County, Pennsylvania.

William is buried in Luthersburg Union Cemetery in an unmarked grave to the left of
the caretaker shed.
William's obituary has his date of birth as 17 May 1891, and this is the date I was told
for his birth. The 1900 census, however, lists his month and year of birth as May 1892.
William was a veteran of World War I.
Harry married Myrtle Viola GLOSSNER on 24 Oct 1917 in Flemington, Clinton County, Pennsylvania.
Myrtle was born 12 Feb 1900. She died 4 Nov 1936 in Maple Avenue Hospital, DuBois, Clearfield
County, Pennsylvania and was buried in Luthersburg Union Cemetery, Luthersburg, Clearfield
County, Pennsylvania.
I never knew my grandmother on my dad's side. She died shortly after giving birth to my
Uncle Delano. The whole family had typhoid fever and, with the pregnancy and delivery, it
was apparently too much for her to recover from.
She is buried in Luthersburg Union Cemetery in an unmarked grave to the left of the
caretaker shed.
