My Andy Timmons Interview

I did this cool interview with Andy Timmons a few weeks ago, but only had the chance to post it today. The page isn't finished either..soon there will be a bio so keep checking back!! My questions are in orange, and Andys answers (un-edited, of course) are in red.

1. What bands have you been in (are currently in)?

My own group,(Andy Timmons Band), Simon Phillips Band(legendary drummer from Jeff Beck, the Who, etc), music director and guitarist for Olivia Newton-John, also appeared this year on the Tonight Show and Good Morning America with LeeAnn Rimes.

2. Who has influenced your guitar playing the most?

Ace Frehley, Ted Nugent, Steve Lukather, Pat Metheny, Larry Carlton, Robben Ford, Jimi Hendrix, Joe Satriani, Joe Pass

3. Other than guitar, what instruments do you play?

Bass, drums, keyboards

4. As a guitarist, what's the hardest thing for you to accomplish?

Playing in tune!!!!

5. Any advice for aspiring guitar players?

Play because you love it... spend as much time playing as you can, especially with other musicians.

6. What's the most embarassing thing thats happened to you on stage?

Zipper undone...no underwear that night!! Also, my wireless going out at Wembly opening for Kiss in 1992!!!

7. What music projects are you currently working on?

New solo CD (instrumental) New cd of vocal material with Andy Timmons Band, writing new material with Simon Phillips. Producing several other artists as well.

8. If you could make up the ultimate band, who would be in it?

Ringo Starr, Paul McCartney, George Harrison,.....ooops...thats been done!!

How about Jeff Porcaro, Paul McCartney, Jeff Beck, Pat Metheny..... Can I sit in????

9. If you could change 1 thing about the world today, what would it be and why?

Of course it's impossible to pick only one.. Hunger...let's get everone fed and healthy, then we can talk about putting an end to the wars and violence and hatred and prejudice.

10. In your spare time, what do you like to do?

collect rare records and bootleg CDs (Beatles, Hendrix, Brian Wilson)

11. How would you describe yourself?

Hard working, dedicated, perfectionist,

12. Have you heard of Metal Sludge ( http://www.metal-sludge.com ), and, if so, what is your opinion of it?

No

13. What's your favorite candy?

Candy corn

14. What do you think of the Napter 'controversy'?

I certainly see both sides of the issue...convenience for the consumer, possible exposure for lesser-known artists, but certainly may be harmful to artists in the long run.

15. If you could tell readers 1 thing that they didn't already know about you, what would it be?

I played on records by Paula Abdul and Vanilla Ice!!! (Not many people know about those!!!!)
