Blues Saraceno

What advice does this guitar great have to offer about getting into the music business? How did it feel to be 23 years old with 3 albums out already? What does Blues favor to people? To find out the answers to those questions and more, read on!

My questions are in green and Blues answers are in... well... blue :)

1.) What advice can you give to aspiring guitar players?

Get into music because it is truly something you want to do. The business end is disgusting and it will take the excitement right out of you.

2a.) You did some work with Rikki Rockett on the Glitter For Your Soul project. Are you finished laying down the guitar tracks?

Yes They came out great and were a lot of fun to do.

2b.) How did you get chosen for the line-up?

Had worked with Rikki in the past and always gotten along great.

3.) Why did you choose the guitar and who's inspired you the most?

My dad played so I just kind of fell into it. My father.

4.) What's in your CD player today?

Portishead and Jimmy Smith

5.) Have you ever been to http://www.metal-sludge.com and what are your thoughts on it?

Yes -I loved the part about the bass player from Skid Row

6.) On Poisons Greatest Hits 1986-1996 CD, Bret explains the concept behind 'Sexual Thing' and how he pitched the idea to you. What was your first impression of the song?

I dug the fact that he had such a strong concept about what he wanted. It is a lot easier to with an artist if he or she knows what they want.

7.) Releasing 3 albums before the age of 23 is a really big accomplishment - how did you deal with the pressures of the music biz AND with coming out of the teenage years at the same time?

Didn't think about it much, just kept moving forward.

8.) Other than playing guiater, how far do your musical talents extend?

Production, engineering and various instruments.

9.) What's the hardest lesson you've learned about the biz?

having great product doesn't guarantee anything.

10.) You mentioned you've done some commercials for CBS and FOX TV. Which ones?

The spots are on my website www.bluessaraceno.com

11.) What's the most embarassing thing thats ever happened to you on stage (that you can talk about)?

Falling flat on my face when I was entered into a talent show.

12.) If there was any 1 person in the world you'd like to work with (that you haven't already worked with before) who would it be?

John Lennon

13.) As a guitarist what's the hardest thing for you to accomplish?

Getting my product heard.

14.) Fast forward 6 years: Where do you see yourself?

six years older.

15.) What's your pet peeve?

dishonesty.

16.) In a '92 interview you did for Guitar magazine, you said you 'cut the Plaid album in the garage at my parents' house, right next to the bikes and cars and everything.' Did that type of recording give it a different feel than a studio recording?

Not really, just forced me to work with what I had to work with (which was not much)

17.) You use Vaccaro guitars. What makes them your axe of choice?

My axe of choice is my ERNIE BALL gold sparkle guitar. It is an Albert lee with Seymour Duncan Seth Lover pickups.

18.) How did you meet up with Erik Topolski for Transmission OK?

Via friends.

19.) 2 months of auditions for T.O. drummer James E. Keegan. Did it ever seem hopeless?

No, just frustrating.

20.) If you could tell my website readers 1 thing that they didn't already know about you, what would it be?

I like animals better than people.
