A star was born on August 8, 1961 in Mechanicsburg, PA - Richard Alan Ream (he later officially changed his name to Rikki Rockett). He is the youngest of 2 children to Norman and Margaret Ream. His older sister is Vicki. Before Poison, Rikki worked as a hairdresser, lifeguard, dishwasher, Emergency Medical Technician and a suit salesman - among other things!
His first band was 'The GTOs' in which the now-drummer played guitar. Rikki concludes that he switched to drums because it was '50% physical and 50% mental'. His influences included the likes of Peter Criss and Ringo Starr.
Poison was officially formed in '82 - '84. Bret and Rikki started it, with Bobby and C.C. coming in later. 1986 brought a record deal from the indie label 'Enigma' - 'Look What the Cat Dragged In' was born on a budget of $30,000. This was also the year Rikki changed his name legally to Rikki Rockett and considered himself going pro!!
In a recent Metal Edge 'Round-up' ( where a question is presented to numerous rock stars in Metal Edge magazine), this 5'11', green-eyed rock star confided that his first bought album was Deep Purples 'Live in Japan'.
Approximately 8 years ago, Rikki turned vegan after a horrible incident. He was out hunting, but never caught anything. He went home and shot a bird - watched it take its two last breaths of life. This was a major turning point for him! Since than, he has decided not to eat meat, animal by-products and the like and doesn't wear clothing made from animals (leather, wool, etc....). He is also an animal rights activist who has participated in quite a few protests and even runs his own awareness site! (visit my animal rights page for the link!) Now, he enjoys vegan Chinese and Italian food. Since turning vegan, Rikki mentioned that hes been much healthier, has more energy, and has a clear mind - knowing no animals had to die for his supper!
Rikki has many accomplishments to be proud of over the past few years. Here are just a few:
- Co-Owner of 'Old Ghost Designs' - a clothing company
- Created 'No Mercy Comics' with (now deceased - R.I.P.) Mark Williams

- Appeared in Vixens 'Edge of a Broken Heart' video
When this 30-something year old gets free time (which is rare now!) he loves doing astronomy, riding motorcycles and participating in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Rikki also currently has 3 tattoos; the Poison:Flesh and Blood logo (b/t/w - this is his favorite Poison album), the word Liberation and the ALF logo underneath it.
