Money Saving Tips

I'm gonna have to confess... my favorite way to buy horse stuff is on sale - NO, not cause I'm cheap, just cause the way I see it is if I save on one thing, I can splurge on another :) This page is gonna have money saving tips, tricks and ideas.

Okay, so lets say that you're involved in more than one equestrian sport and you have tons of riding equipment and find it hard to remember where every little thing is. The solution... Those old backpacks that you throw out... DON'T!!!!! They are really handy for riding gear, IE: boots and polish into one bag, bridle, reins, girth into another bag, brushes into another and little odds and ends into another. Get it? You'll be surprised at how a little order goes a long way :)

Leather riding boots look very, very nice but they can also be very, very costly. Rubber riding boots are a good alternative until you can afford leather because they last a long time, clean up easily and look good - plus they are okay at most local lower level shows (ie: local fairs, etc...)

Have you ever noticed that some tack shop prices can be soooo high that it makes you wonder how the place ever got any business? Well, from past experience... anything with the word "horse" on it gets a higher price than usual. A good example are grooming boxes. Around here, 1 grooming box from a tack store is about $25.00 Cdn. But go to a hardware store and buy a "tool caddy" (exactly the same thing as a grooming box) and pay anywhere from half to a quarter of the cost!!
