Animals

What is an animal?
If someone asked you how animals are different from plants, what would you say? You might say something like "Well, animals eat other living things," or you might say "Um...animals can move around!".That might not be enough to describe what an animal is. Here are all of the characteristics that animals share:

1)Animals can not make their own food. They depend on other living things in the environment for food. Some eat plants, animals, or both.
2)Animals digest their food. The minerals in food must be broken down to eat and for their body to use.
3)Animals also move place to place.Moving around helps them to find things, such as mates, food, shelter, and moving also allows animals to escape from predators.
4)Animals are many-celled.Different cells carry out many different functions.
5)Animals are eukaryotic. This means that they each have a nucleus and organelles surrounded by membranes.
