The main reason for the flood was to destroy the corrupted gene pool that entered the human race via demons having intercourse with human women and producing an irredeemable race of man. (see Genesis 6). Noah was "perfect in his generations" and neither he nor his family were infested with this corrupted gene pool.

We are told in the Bible that one third of God's angels rebelled against God and joined Satan. These angels are the demons mentioned in scripture. After Satan tricked Adam and Eve in to eating from the forbidden tree,his next goal was to attempt to thwart God's plan to provide a redeemer that would come through the "seed of woman".

the "sons of God" mentioned in Genesis 6 were fallen angels who had intercourse with human women in order to corrupt the human gene pool where a redeemer of man would not be possible. the flood of Noah's time thwarted Satan's plan. In modern times, reports of alien abductions have produced stories of aliens attempting to produce a hybrid race aliens and humans,these "aliens" are none other than Satan's demons in the guise of aliens.

The old mythological stories of the Greeks and Romans are carry-overs of half humans and half gods from the time before the flood with some embellishment of course. "

James - That theory is interesting however the Bible states that the offspring created by the merging of the sons of God and the daughters of man were Giants among men. Whether description is literal or figurative it seems to imply that these unions had improved the gene pool rather than corrupting it.

This mating with the daughter's of man may be describe the 2nd genetic alteration of the extant hominid species on earth. The first being when the Elohim "created" man in their image. Sitchkin postulates that the purpose of the first genetic hybrids was to increase the level of intelligence to the point where they could be utilized as a labor force able to better understand and act on orders.
