Hey-Hey It's Victoria. This past Friday ( 12.02.99) I had the unique experience of seeing Kenny Wayne Shepherd in concert. My wonderful brother Cory took me. He was orginally supposed to take me to a JONNY LANG concert, but he waited too long to get tickets and they were sold out. After he found out the Jonny Lang concert was sold out he bought me tickets to the upcoming KWS concert. He bought the tickets home and I "attacked him with a hug". (quoted from another review...hehe) All during the month and the half leading up to the concert I wasn't particularly excitied. I, Victoria have now concluded that I never really get excited about concert until the precise moment that they are about to occur. Oh well.
I was supposed to get my KWS cd and booklet SIGNED But that didn't pan out. Oh well.
Friday at school was pretty ho-hum. I still wasn't excited I was going a KWS concert. I did smile a little on the way home when Slow Ride came on. After I got home, I immediately changed into my "concert outfit" I wore my green drawstring pants and my Union Jack shirt. Oh yeah, on the way home Cory informed me that his friend from work Joey, was going to come with us. Cory asked me if I cared if Joey came, of course I DIDN'T care if Joey came. WHY WOULD I CARE ? I wouldn't care if a herd of elephants came along, as long as I they didn't trample me or Kenny. (Sorry I went a little wacko there.) After I got dressed, I chatted to Soma (and Susan, and Little Kramer) until Cory told me to go put on my shoes. I had to go FIND my shoes first. I found them, and then Cory, Joey, and I went to eat at the fine dinery that is known as . I had a salad and some fries. After we finished eating we got back in the car and I had to remind Cory to put his seatbelt back on. Joey remembered. Then we went over to SOMA's house. I went there to pick up her money so I could buy her shirt at the concert. I was going to buy her shirt, a shirt for myself, and then borrow 10 dollas from Cory to get a shirt for Bonnie. But alas, that plan failed. Soma didn't answer the door. Darn it. If you are reading Soma and Bonnie, sorry I didn't get you guys shirts but did get you something ! Then we got on 85-South. Cory's gas light turned on right after we got on the highway. So we rode all the way to downtown Atlanta with HIS GAS LIGHT on. I was so paranoid that we were going to run out of gas and not be able to go the concert. By now I was throughly excited about the fact I was going to see KWS in the flesh. The excitement was heightened by the fact that I heard Somehow, Somewhere, SomeWay on the way there, and right after the song ended the deejay played Trouble Is... and started talking about how cool the concert was going to be. :) We got the venue, parked yada yada yada. Then we got off the car and preceded to walk to the venue. The line to get into the Tabernacle stretched all the way down one street, around the corner, into a parking lot, curving in the parking lot. It was a enormous line. The closer we got the door the more beer bottles we saw.
Once we got into the building, I headed right for the merchandise stand. I bought a shirt. It is black and has a picture of Kenny on the front holding a guitar, and on the back it has a oval that has Kenny Wayne Shepherd written in it. I bought Bonnie and Soma both nifty bumper stickers that say Kenny Wayne Shepherd on them. After I was done with my purchasing, Cory and Joey both tried to convince me to go sit up in the balcony for the concert. I finally agreed when Cory said we would sit in the balcony only for the opening act, and go down to the floor when KWS took the stage. Of course Cory and Joey picked the HIGHEST balcony where you could look DOWN at the stage. Then we sat there for thirty minutes or so and Cory and Joey had a discussion about whether or not you could smoke in the venue. (You could.) Then, the opening act came out. I couldn't see very well so I announced to Cory I was going down on the floor and I didn't care if he came with me or not. He said he'd rather stay up in the balcony, so I started going to the stairs to the floor as by my lonesome......
