VH1's brand new rock and roll magazine show ROCK CANDY will debut on Monday March 8 at 10:30pm. The first segment on the first show is mainly centered around The Brian Jonestown Massacre. It's called "Bands In Crisis" and will run footage of the band's therapy session with Dr.Cox (the rock star shrink), the Coney Island High show, early footage of the band, interviews, etc etc.
The producers of the show told me of the 16 half-hour episodes already in the can, this segment is their favorite, and that's why it's first. Expect a heavy on-air promo campaign and lots of reruns.

another update from the BJM record labe0l camp;

there will be (3) warm up shows in california before they jump over to Japan.
The shows are on Feb. 19 and 20th at The Bottom of The Hill in San Francisco, $8 to get in. Dora Flood and I Am Spoonbender open. On Feb. 27 they play Spaceland in L.A., $8 to get in, and i have no idea who the opening acts will be.
I spoke to Anton at length yesterday, and while he didn't mention anything about tennis, he did say how everything is going really well for him...he's writing new songs, laying naked in his back yard, and basically just diggin' where he's at these days. They've added ANOTHER member to the band...a Hammond organ player (who's name i unfortunately forget).
They are off to Japan during the first week of march, where they'll be playing (2) shows in Tokyo...if I'm not mistaken these shows will be with Mercury Rev. The album is doing quite well there. It came out on Dec.19, and contains a bonus track called "Untitled". Ondi, the "official" BJM videographer, will be on hand to get it all on film. Following Air Canada's lead; I also just got word from the Japanese record company (Rock records) that "Going To Hell" has been added for in-flight play on ANA airlines for flights between Narita-Tokyo and Chicago for the month of March. Now the Japan-bound Mile-High Club has groovy tunes too!
The video for "Going To Hell" is climbing the charts on M2
