Though the news is currently still classified as rumor, it looks certain that Bruce Chen has been called up to Atlanta! John Smoltz was put on the 15- day DL May 17 and Chen may be scheduled to make his 1999 ML debut tonight against the Pirates.
Bruce was excelling at AAA- Richmond, with 50 strikeouts in just 45 innings-- his ERA was an impressive 2.40 and his record 3-2.
If Chen can do well and show his big-league stuff, he will likely bump Odaliz Perez out of the rotation and take over the # 5 starter spot. Stay tuned to the BCFC page for new information. Congratulations, Bruce!
