Backstreet Boys are fast becoming recognized as the sound for the new millennium. People buy the classic CDs that easily become multi-platinum with just a snap of the fingers. We've been known to camp out in line for a measly BSB tour ticket despite an severe thunderstorm warning. WE are the fans, WE are responsible for all the fame they so rightly deserve. WE keep the backstreet pride alive!!
Backstreet Boys shattered the sales record for most albums sold in one week with 1.134 MILLION with their highly-coveted Millennium cd. This was a record previous held by Garth Brooks, the #1 selling artist of the century. The boys have the power and they arent afraid to demonstrate it. BSB have dominated Billboard charts, having the #1 selling album of 1999 thus far. They were Grammy-nominated for "Best New Artist", appeared on the cover of the legendary "Rolling Stone" magazine, swept away the competiton by winning award after award, the list goes on.
Yet...yet there is one word that haunts them to this very day, "boyband". Boyband...what is a boyband? It 's not in any dictionary Ive ever checked out. Its more of a slang word, simply; A group of cute, sexy guys who cant sing or perform. Instead, they use their looks to sell their products. Does this sound like the Backstreet Boys? Do 30+ million people worldwide rush out and buy their cds, and pay to go to one of the boys concerts just because they're studs? I think not. No way! A majority of us adore them because they can SING. They have the voices and they've already proven themselves legit in more ways then one. However, the big-headed buffoon idiotic critics and VJ's cant register in their heads that BSB are more than a boyband phenomeon that are bound to get as stale as an loaf of bread sitting around for months on end. They are the future of music. They are the group of 2000 and beyond.
This is where Ive decided to step in and try my damnest to stop the name-calling and I need each and everyone of your help. Im currently preparing a package to be delievered to MTV, Vh1, and anywhere else I can think of in which they are constantly teased as a "boyband". All I need you to do is fill out in the guestbook below, a short paragraph on why YOU think they should refrain from calling BSB the b-word. Then I'll print up everyones replies, send them to their rightful places, and wait for a response. I cant gaurentee any action, but I can gaurentee that we'll get our say in this!! KTBSPA!!
COMING SOON: My article that appeared in Starz! magazine plus my own fanfic page!!!!! :)
