There's more than meets the eye to this 15 year old girl next door. Tomboy Joey has had to grow up quickly. Having lost her mother to cancer, and her father to prison, Joey lives with her older sister Bessie and her infant son Alexander. Joey and her family owned the S.S. Icehouse in Capeside until it burned down recently. Bessie ran it and Joey was a waitress there. Though the town gossips about her family, Joey rises above it.
Joey comes across as tough and self assured, with a sharp tongue and intelligence, but inside she's very insecure. Her feelings about her bestfriend Dawson confused her very much. When Jen came to town and stole Dawson's heart, these feelings bugged her even more and she eventually gots what she wanted. Things start to ignite between her and Dawson but soon start fading away once Jack gets in the picture. Joey then decides to end her and Dawsons relationship because she needs time to figure out who she is.
