The Elysian Fields
Homo es: resiste et tumulum contempla meum.
iu(v)enis tetendi ut haberem quod uterer.

Be a man: stop and contemplate my tomb. As a young man, I strove to use that I which I had. I made injury to no one, I made favors to many. Live well, prosper, this must come for you.
The Woods of the Fortunate are the home of all those who possessed moral conviction and were good in life. This is a pleasant place with a sky, sun, stars, clothing, exercise, sports, and song. Essentially, Elysium is a pastoral paradise created by and for the early pastoral Greeks and Romans. Conveniently included in Elysium are two gates to the Outer World through which spirits may pass for reincarnation without having to endure the less pleasant parts of Hades.
Adeste amici, fruamur tempus bonum,
epulemur laeti, vita dum parva manet,
Baccho madentes, hilaris sit concordia.
eadem fecerunt hi cuncti dum viverent,
et nos antiquorum emitemur tempora.
vive dum vivis, nec quidquam denegaveris
animo indulgere, quem commodavit deus.
Be present, friends, we will enjoy a good time, we will feast happily while our short life remains, flowing with wine, let there be cheerful harmony. All these have made the same things while they were living and we live through the times of antiquities. Life while you live, and you will not have denied anything to indulge you spirit, which God bestowed.
