"ITS SHOWTIME"

How can one say goodbye to a truly great friend. On April 1st, 2000, I lost my beautiful horse Rusty. He and I have come through some tough times together. Rusty was a quarter horse from Texas, he loved to show off. He was a very active horse who never knew what quit was. One of his favorites things was to break into a dead run on command. His whole body would tremble when you lined him up. He would wait till you called out "Showtime" this was his signal to run as fast as he could. The wind would whip by your face and you could feel the mighty muscles beneath you as he did what he loved to do.

Rusty was buried in the shade of his favorite dogwood tree, I promised him that he would be at home, in his own pasture. I go there and sit beside him. In my memory I still am able to ride the greastest show horse there ever was.

Those powerful muscles are still now. Yet I see him in my mind, head held high, waiting on his command. One day he will come back for me and we will "Go out in a blaze of Glory".

Until then dear Rusty, be ready for soon it will be:

"Showtime, Rusty"
