Cocktails

The following are considered to be the basic cocktails from which most others derive.

Martini | 2 parts Gin 1 Part Dry (Italian) Vermouth Pour over ice cubes in Shaker. Stir Strain out ice as pour into stem glass. Add Olive (Reduce water from melting ice by putting Gin in freezer and putting vermouth and olives in refrigerator). |
Old Fashioned | 1 cube of sugar in bottom of Old Fashion Glass 2 dashes of Angostura Bitters 1 teaspoon of water Muddle Strain out ice as pour into stem glass. Add 1 strip Orange Peel 1 Jigger of Rye Whiskey Ice |
Manhatten | Dash Sweet Vermouth ½ oz American Whiskey Pour over ice, directly into serving glass Stir Garnish with cherry |
Champagne Coctail | 1 sugar cube A dash of Angostura bitters A twist of lemon peel Place the sugar cube, bitters, and lemon twist in the bottom of a champagne glass. Add 6 fl oz (180 ml) chilled champagne. |
Sidecar | ¾ oz Brandy ¾ oz Triple Sec Fill with sweet & sour mix Pour over ice into stainless can, and hold together. Shake 3-4 times. Pour back into serving glass. Sugar rim |
