Brent's Listening Preferences
What can I say, I'm one person of the face of the Earth that will admit to liking Bon Jovi, hehe. I have liked these guys since like the 4th grade and I have listened to them on and off ever since. I really feel like Bon Jovi is underrated because last time I checked they had sold about 50 million records all-time. They have produced a ton of hits and they are one of the few 80's bands that are still successful in the 90's. From what I hear, they have a new album coming out this year that is going to rock. Even if the new album sucks I will still be a Bon Jovi fan because these guys have a shitload of good songs from the old days and they still sound pretty good to me.
I guess I have been listening to the Piano Man now for a couple years. Billy Joel is certainly a legend and is so good that he has 3 different greatest hits albums. I saw Billy in concert back in December and it was simply three AWESOME hours of music. My favorite Billy Joel song is naturally "Piano Man." Any cold beer drinker should appreciate that one. I also really like "Scenes from the Italian Restaurant," "We Didn't Start the Fire," and about twenty more songs by him. The guy knows how to write music and I think he's one of the all time greats.
Here's the Boss. Bruce Springsteen knows how to put on a show and if you don't believe me then look up at the picture. Springsteen has been tuning out hits for like twenty five years it is still impossible to get a ticket to one of his shows. Over the summer, he sold out 16 shows in the same building in like an hour. Springsteen has so many awesome songs, I am not even going to try to start listing my favorites. What can I say other that Bruce Springsteen is a legend in his own time.
George Strait is by far my favorite country singer. Again, this guy has so many good songs that there is no reason to even start listing them. I even like his movie. If I were to watch his movie under the right circumstances, it would probably make me cry, hehe. George Strait is the best country perfomer out there, in my opinion, and I hope he continues to make albums for a long time.
These guys were like the first greedy rock and roll stars. They were really smart and made the concert promotors give them most of the money from the show instead of the small amount that other bands got. They were able to do this because they were so awesome. I swear Led Zeppelin has like fifty or sixty awesome songs. Zeppelin practically owned the rock and roll scene throughout the 1970s. From "Good Times, Bad Times," (their first song) to "Whole Lotta Love" to "Dazed and Confused" to "Stairway to Heaven" to "heartbreaker" (a song that makes this site possible) to "Kashmir" to "All of My Love" (their last song) these guys completely rocked the world for a decade. Even today, Jimmy Page and Robert Plant sell out stadiums and arenas all over the world, nearly twenty years after the band offically broke up due to the drummer John Bonham's death. Led Zeppelin is one of the all time great rock-n-roll bands and certainly worthy of being considered legendary.
Last but not least is my newest musical influence, Jimmy Buffett. For years I have been in love with the beach. One day I would like to live at the beach for crying out loud. In addition, I am also a cold beer drinker. When you think of Jimmy Buffett, drinking and the beach are the first two things that come to mind. Not only is Buffett a beach loving, drinking fool, but he also knows how to put on a show. Jimmy Buffett has a bunch of good songs and I love how he puts you in the perfect state of mind sometimes. I see myself being a Buffett fan for years to come.
