“Not An April Fool’s Joke”

--Robert Chauncey
On October 14, I will celebrate my
24th birthday. Two days later, on October 16th, the
Imaginary Wrestling Association will celebrate its third and final birthday.
Over the past few weeks, there have been several rumors floating around about
the possible closing of the IWA, and while I seriously considered keeping it a
secret until later on in the year, I’ve decided against it, and will now
attempt to explain my reasons in this column.
When I first opened the IWA, I was a
junior in college. I had more free time than I knew what to do with. Nearly
three years later, it is not the case any more. I graduated from college, and
as almost everyone of you knows, I now teach 6th grade in Griffin,
Georgia. I have a very wonderful fiancée, who I will marry in a year’s…March
30, 2001 to be exact, for those that plan to make the event. J Even though I am not at
the point yet in my life where I can say I have absolutely no time for the IWA,
I know that I will get that way very soon. I owe it to the IWA not to wake-up
one day and just decide I don’t have the time to do it any more. So I’ve
decided to take the IWA out on “my own terms,” so to speak.
As everyone should have noticed, a
storyline has been started in the IWA. This storyline will be the greatest and
most important storyline in IWA history, and with some of the past storylines
we have seen, that is saying a lot. This storyline will also play into the
storyline that will close the IWA once and for all.
Now what does this mean for
everyone? At this moment, not a whole lot. We still have nine months left in
the IWA’s life, and compared with other e-feds, 9 months can be two or three
lifetimes. In other words, don’t start packing your bags quite yet, because I
promise you that the next 9 months will be well worth the stay. I have also
began discussions with several other e-feds that I believe would be suitable
“replacements” for the IWA. What I mean by replacement is another e-fed that is
similar to the IWA, where the President of the e-fed doesn’t mind a whole slew
of people coming in with the same characters they had from the IWA, with their
pasts in tact from the IWA. So far I have a few candidates, but no sure fire
ones yet.
I will also be implementing a “full
return” policy. And that means if someone from the IWA’s past wishes to come
back, no matter the reasons they left in the first place, they will be welcomed
back. Yes, Jesse, because I know you are reading this, that means you too. By the
time December rolls around, I would like as many people from the IWA’s history
back as possible, so if you know any of the old guys, e-mail them, and attempt
to get them back. If they don’t want to come back for an extended period of
time, ask them to at least come back for the last two months after Night of
Hell.
So I guess that brings me to the
close of this column. I know it is not a very large column, but I think it got
a lot of things covered in it, in the short amount of time that it took me to
write it. If you have any questions concerning any of this, please e-mail me
about it.
Sincerely,
Robert
Chauncey
