Hilarious, endearing and ridiculous describes Bridget Jones, Singleton extraordinaire, and this is her diary, for one year. In the beginning, she starts with some (unreasonable perhaps) New Year's Resolution, and sums up the end of the book with a list of how she did with those resolutions. It is her hysterical story of dating, working and just plain living as a 30-something Singleton trying to catch up with her biological clock. With a great cast of characters and outrageous stunts, this is a book that should be read by everyone. USA Today called it "Screamingly Funny!", which it is. It also, by the way, v.g. (read and you'll understand) Bridget Jones is both lovable and repulsive, though more the former than the latter, and her story is one everyone should read. "129 lbs. (how is it possible to put on 4 pounds in the middle of the night? Could flesh have somehow solidified becoming denser and heavier? Repulsive, horrifying notion), alcohol units 4 (excellent), cigarettes 21 (poor, but will give up totally tomorrow), number of correct lottery numbers 2 (better, but nevertheless useless)..." |
