J. D. Salinger | Jewliet's Main Page | |
This is the story of Holden Caulfield and his acceptance of the reality of growing up. He is a delinquent, never fitting in, and still mostly a child at the age of 17. Perhaps it was from his younger brother's untimely death that Holden wants to remain a child. Perhaps it is his anxiety over becoming a hypocrite, as he sees all adults. Either way, in one weekend he learns the truth about growing up, and this young man's quest for knowledge and understanding strikes a chord in everyone who reads it. This is Salinger's only novel, and little is known about him and his work, for he refuses questions. Other books readers might enjoy: A Seperate Peace by John Knowles |
