In this 19th century romance, the striking characters of Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy seem the least of all to be destined for each other. The reader is captivated by the remarkable ability of Austen to convey the essence of each character in just a short novel. From the flirt, Lydia to the sycophant, Mr. Collins, each person is at once memorable and unforgettable. Overall, this novel has such a warmth to it that the reader will most likely find themself drawn to other books by Jane Austen. This novel was made into a movie by the BBC and A&E in cooperation, starring Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle in 1997.
