HIS LIFE HISTORY

Early Saturday morning, October 4, 1997, Carlos Gardner, also know as "Mookie" had an ashtma attack at Fort Valley State University and passed away at a early age. He was 18 years old. He attended school in Aberdeen Maryland, Bamberg Germany, Houston Texas, Honolulu Hawaii, Atlanta, Decatur and Hinesville Georgia.

Mookie was in his freshman year at Fort Valley State University, Fort Valley Georgia. His Major was Mass Communication. His goals was to get a Bachelor degree within four years.

He enjoyed writing poetry, drawing, playing and looking at all sports, especially basketball, listening and writing his own Rap music. The young man had a gift in playing the keyboard (self taught). He enjoyed collecting Hockey, Baseball, Football, and Basketball Cards. He had a small collection of Comic Books. Dancing was one of his number one enjoyment.

He had many nicknames during his life. They were:

Pee Grit given by his Grandmother Patton
Peety given by the family
Micro given by Coach Bernie Rhodes in Hawaii
Haircut given by Gary Johnson
Mookie given by his homeboys from Atlanta & Decatur on the basketball court, that was generated within his nineth grade year

Mookie has set many standards and made history for our family. When he attended McNair High School in Atlanta, Georgia, he was the first male ever to become a Cheerleader for that school. During the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia, he was the first member in this family to ever participate in the Opening Ceremony.
