It was almost morning when Mistoffelees' ears pricked and his eyes opened in alarm. Being careful not to wake Victoria beside him, he lifted his head above the mass of sleeping fur and looked around. The twins, Tantomile and Coricopat, also sensed the disturbance in the air. Mistoffelees sniffed the air and caught a familiar scent. He began to hiss and his white fangs flurished. A soft tin can was heard falling on the ground causing all the cats to wake simultaneously.
"What is it Misto?" Skimbleshanks asked. But Demeter answered for him as she whispered, "Macavity!"
Immediatly, at the sounding of that name the jellicles jumped to their feet in alarm. They were about to scatter to their hiding places when large dirty street cats appeared from every angle of the junkyard. There were too many to count. Macavity then appeared from behind the rusted old car. "What do you want Macavity?" Munkustrap asked in a deep angry voice.
Macavity leaned against the car's hood as he checked his extracted claws and said, "Let's see what do I want? I want that jellicle leader of yours." "Well too bad, cause you can't have him!" Alonzo yelled.
Macavity frowned, "Say, talking about Old Deut. I want to know who took him from me last time I had him."
The cats were silent. Macavity pointed a crooked finger at Mistoffelees, "It was you wasn't it?"
"Yeah, so what?" Mistoffelees said with a shrug, "We weren't going to let you keep him."
Macavity slowly made his way towards the black cat. Munkustrap quickly stood in his way and ordered, "Stay away from him."
"I ain't going to hurt him." Macavity replied then looked over Munkustrap's shoulder and said, "In fact I thought the trick was very clever. Even I wasn't expecting it. That's why I got myself a magician."
The jellicles gasped. Macavity with a magician was not a good combination. Knowing he got everyone's attention Macavity said, "I'd like you all to meet the magician's magician, Siflay."
Just then small dust like sparkles began to swirl the a small cyclone. Spinning faster and faster and closer together, the particles formed a figure. Then they exploded revealing a slender, male, black cat. He resembled Mistoffelees except he didn't have a white chest or a white tip aatt the end of his tail. His body was completely black except for his white face. His eyes were different colors. His rightt eye was green and his left was violet. It was amazing how Siflay and Mistoffelees were the exact same size. Mistoffelees' eyes widened when he suddenly recognized the black cat before him. "Siflay?"
Siflay gave Mistoffelees a quizzical look.
"Siflay, don't you remember me?"
Siflay was more confused than ever and so was Macavity as he watched. "Siflay, it's me, Mistoffelees."
Just then Siflay's puzzled look dissappeared and was replaced with a look of surprise. "Oh my God, Mistoffelees?"
Macavity had to intervene, "Wait just a minute." he turned to Siflay and said, "You know this fur ball?"
"Yeah, he's my brother!"
Everyone in the junkyard was shocked. Macavity threw up his arms and said sarcastically, "I should have known. I guess all magical cats are related."
"Not exactly-" Siflay replied but was interupted by Macavity.
"Look here, I don't care who he is or how your related, your job is to take care of him." he took Siflay aside and said in a low voice so the others wouldn't hear, "You must get rid of him if we are to get the jellicle leader. Plus I'll give you a little something." he drew Siflay closer and whispered in his ear, "Your freedom."
When Siflay was younger he was attacked by a couple of dogs. Macavity rescued him and in return told him he had to stay and work with him. Siflay promised to do so. Since then Siflay and Macavity had been together. But know that Macavity was offering his freedom back, Siflay gathered his powers from inside of him. Seeing that Siflay was ready, Macavity stepped aside and allowed him to proceed. Munkustrap stood his ground in front of Mistoffelees. Seeing that Munkustrap was not about to move, Siflay shot out an electrical charge at Munkustrap which sent him in the air and landing harshly on his shoulder. Siflay then proceeded toward his younger brother. "Silfay, don't do this." Mistoffelees begged.
"Shut up and fight." Siflay answered and he threw another electrical charge out at Misto who cleverly dodged it.
Siflay continued to throw bolts of lightning out at Mistoffelees but Misto dodged every one with skillful manuveres. "Come on Misto, show me what you got."
But the black jellicle continued to duck and dodge around the junkyard. Growing impatient and angry, Siflay decided to use a different tactic. He roughly grabbed the white cat, Victoria and said, "If you won't make this fight interesting then I will."
"Okay fine! Just leave her alone." Mistoffelees demanded and Victoria was released.
Siflay then threw another blow at Misto who quickly dodged it. Mistoffelees then gave out his first electrical blow at Siflay who quickly stepped aside. Siflay then released a series of blows like a machine gun at Misto. Misto jumped, ducked, rolled and leaped missing everyone except the last which caused him to fall to the ground. At the sight of this, the other jellicles stired but were held back by the numerous evil cats. "Come on bro, is that all you got?" Siflay mocked.
Misto then leaped in the air and dissappeared. Siflay looked around around and hollared, "No fair, Misto. You're cheating! Come out and fight!"
"Who's cheating?" came Misto's voice but he wasn't anywhere to be seen.
It was coming from the old rusted car. Siflay threw a bolt of lightning at the car causing it to explode but no one came out. "Nice try," came the voice, "but I'm not in the car."
This time it was coming from the pipe. Siflay threw his poower in there but again nothing came out. Misto laughed. Siflay was shocked, "He's a ventriloquist!"
"That's right, be careful bro. I may just be right behind you."
Siflay quickly turned but found no one there. When he turned back around Misto gave him a sudden punch in the jaw. Siflay fell to the ground, rubbing his chin. Anger began to build in Siflay as he began to glow a redish color. Sensing Siflay's fury, he stepped back. Siflay then jumped up and threw out another electrical charge. Mistoffelees dodged it then ran up on a heap of garabage for refuge. Siflay gathered a ton of power and transferred it to his hands then let it all out. The explosion was so big all the cats coward. Mistoffelees fell along with the heap of rubble. The jellicles looked for their companion in the mess and were heartbroken to see him lying on his stomach, motionless. Siflay kicked the garbage aside as he slowly made his way to his fallen victim. Mistoffelees lied there beneath the debris. Slowly the black jellicle looked up at his adversary. Siflay stood there staring right back at him. He could see he was bleeding on his forehead. Macavity then joined him and seeing that the jellicle was still alive he said in a deep monotone voice, "Kill him."
Siflay glanced at him and Macavity repeated himself, "I said kill him."
Siflay raised his arms as his electrical powers were brought to his hands. Mistoffelees closed his eyes and waited. Siflay just stood there in his attacking position staring at his brother. He then placed his hands down by his side and said, "I can't."
"You can't?" Macavity said, "What do you mean you can't? What about your freedom?"
"That doesn't matter anymore. He's my brother and I will not kill him."
Macavity grew angry as he picked up a small, sharp, piece of metal from the ground and yelled, "You're a traitor and know you will die with him!"
But Siflay quickly zapped Macavity, throwing him in the air and on the hard ground. He then turned to Mistoffelees and helped him up. Mistoffelees grinned, "You couldn't do it, could you?"
"No, I couldn't. I don't know what I was thinking." and the two embraced.
Then by looking over Siflay's shoulder Mistoffelees noticed Macavity running towards them with the dagger in his hands. "Siflay look out!" Misto hollared, but it was too late.
The sharp metal pierced into Siflay's back as he let out a painful cry then fell into Misto's arms which forced them both to the ground. "Silflay! No!" Mistoffelees' eyes began to water and he looked up at Macavity and said in fury, "You're not a cat, you're a monster!" and Misto stood up and gathered all the power hee could muster in his hands.
Then with a herendous cry, Mistoffelees let all his power out. It wasn't lighting. It was much more powerful. It was a red ray that bursted form his hands like thunder. Macavity stepped back as the bolt landed near his feet sending into the air and harshly on the ground. Terrified, Macavity's henchmen quickly retreated. Seeing how things were far out of his control he quickly stood and left with them. Soon after, Mistoffelees placed his brother in his arms and said, "Don't worry Siflay, you're going to be fine. We'll find a vet and-"
"I'm so sorry Misto." Siflay interupted, "I didn't want to be like Macavity. When I'm gone please don't think of me as him."
Misto shook his head, "I would never. And don't talk like that. You're not going anywhere. You're going to make it!"
Siflay smiled, "I thought I'd never see you again. I'm just sorry we had to meet like this."
Tears began to fall from Misto's face as he whispered with a quivering voice, "Please don't die on me."
Misto then felt his brothers hand which was once tight around his loosen and fall. His head fell back and his body was lifeless. The other jellicles stood around him as tears flooded their faces. Through his sobs Mistoffelees quoted the famous cat's prayer that all cats say when a loved one dies, "Flights of angels, send thee to thy rest above the jellicle moon and have him watch over me night and day till we meet again." and Mistoffelees closed his brothers eyeslids as he said the last line, "Until then goodnight."
