KEY NOTE: Definitely a very good use of a tree and ink. Informative, useful, and easy to understand and apply.
First of all I want to say that Microsoft Front Page 98 is a good Web Page creator and this book is an excellent companion to understand how to get the most from this program.
This book is divided into 7 parts with 34 chapters and a CD that's "loaded for bear." (A mid-western term used to describe the shot and gunpowder load for the weapon used to hunt the little critter)
There is a section showing those adventurous souls how to spruce up the HTML so your page will go nuclear, well almost. Chapter 26, Using Your Own HTML.
I really like the HTML quick reference in the Appendix. It has 23 different language and tag guides, from Java Applets to the simplest paragraph tags. Very thorough.

Just put the CD in the computer and go to explore and then go to the CD drive and open then click on the "loadme" icon and it's really easy to navigate after that. A page loads with all the instructions and contents about the CD and it is very easy to do.
CD contents:
Before we go any further, Take a good look at what they have packed on this disc. The info in the books alone is worth at least 5 times what you will pay for this book.
KEY NOTE: There are several books on this subject but this one is comprehensive informative, useful, and easy to apply.
The writers had four things in mind when they were putting this book together and after a close examination it looks like they were very successful.
1) To make it easy to use Front Page Explorer to create, maintain, and develop
your Web Site.
2) To show you how to use Front Page Editor so you can make enjoyable and useful
Web Pages
3) To give you the technical elements of Web Design beyond Front Page 97,
i.e. HTML, Java, scripting, and data base integration
4) To help you understand the technicalities of the World Wide Web, from
now and into the future
They have designed this book to be helpful to the experienced Webmasters, or the ones just starting out. This book has a serious tone to it, as you read it you can tell they really want you to be able to understand the information and use it correctly. In my opinion this is a good thing, because with this kind of attitude you will get the most efficient and useful information out there. This is why I like this series.

There is a tear out Fast Facts section in the front.
This CD is incredible to say the least. Just look at what they have put in this puppy: There is a 350 hemi with a full over cam. It is balanced and blueprinted & they have a nitrous system that they got from Lockheed's F22 spare parts division. Oh I almost forgot, it is all powered by a cold fusion nuclear reactor. From NASA's research & development department.
No, I not loosing it, I'm trying to describe what I see when I look at this book and the "CD Stuff" that comes with it.
CD contents:
Can you believe what is in this disk?
System Requirements:
486 or Pentium processor
IBM-compatible computer running Windows 98
8MB of RAM (16MB for NT)
300MB available disk space
CD drive
If your system does not meet the specified requirements, you may experience audio or video delays.
KEY NOTE: If you are someone that wants to optimize your use of Win 98 then you absolutely need this book.
The writers had three different audiences in mind when they were putting this book together and respectfully, if I may, there is one more that they missed. In addition to the 3 below I think that anyone could get a lot out of this, because of the software on the disk even the most inexperienced users can greatly benefit from this book and CD.
1) Windows 3.x and DOS users who are upgrading to Win 98
2) Windows 95 users who need to learn the Internet aspects of Win 98
3) Experienced system administrators, tech support people, and Win 95 &
IE4 users
I would like to bring your attention to just a few things I really like. There are 45 pages of how to make the desktop your very own. There are 30 pages telling you how to understand the concept of an active desktop, and last but not least, there are 27 pages of instruction explaining how to do Video Conferencing with NetMeeting on your desktop.
By no means is that all, there are 20 chapters packed with easy to understand and follow instructions and really no matter what level you are at in computer skill there is something here to benefit you. Everyone running Win 98 should get this one.

KEY NOTE: This book has been designed to be concise, comprehensive, useful, and easy to apply for all computer users at any skill level.
This book and subject is very important from the standpoint of a webmaster because of some of the new HTML extensions that are packed in the browser. I know that when you make a web page you are supposed to make it work for both Navigator and IE4, but the truth of the matter is IE4 kicks major backside. It is like the difference between eating your basic brownie or going to the Outback and having one of those chocolate syrup, brownie, ice-cream, incredible things. (That's not the real name but you get the picture). I have personally created web pages that are really cool to look at and viewed those pages with Navigator and the text was there but the Wow was gone.
There are 31 chapters loaded with information for every level of user. You have chapters 1-7 for the beginners. Chapters 1-19 for intermediate users, and chapters 20-31 for the experienced webmaster types.
One of the really important chapters of this book is the one on Internet Security. I recently had a virus rewrite my system code in such a way that I could not even get in to reboot my system. A tech and I stayed on the phone for 3 hrs to write debug code so that I could even reload my system disk. If I had known about disabling cookies I might not have had that problem. In chapter 16, pg. 311 & 312 you will find this extremely valuable info.
This is a must have if you want the edge on the guy next door for getting around in IE4.

KEYNOTE: This is an excellent job again, the book I mean. The writers did a superb job of finding the most important stuff that you want, need and were afraid to ask about Netscape 3. They also set the information up in a way that will keep you rolling on the Information Super Highway.

CD contents:
1) Source Code from the Book
2) Virtual Reference Library
KEYNOTE: This is a hardbound edition of the smartest grouping of web design stuff in one place on the planet. And as usual they have slamcramed the CD full. I’ve said before that because of what you get on the disc the price of the book is a real Texas size deal. The book follows right down that path with very comprehensive but easy to understand information so you can get your Web Site to go Nuclear.
There are 7 sections and 41 chapters that have more punch than a photon torpedo set to maximum yield. I particularly like section 3 on XML, this is a definite plus because it bridges the gap that HTML has in it for not describing content well enough
They have designed this book to be helpful to the medium and experienced Web Designers, but like on Emeril Live cooking show, the writers "Kick it up a notch" with this one.
