Announcing a new venture by David Barnes (the artist responsible for the amazing illustrations that adorn Of Montreal's albums). David would like to start making portraits of people (ala The Early Four Track Recordings album art work). Each portrait will be on 8 1/2" x 11" watercolor paper and he is charging $75. All he needs is a photograph of the subject and a list of 3 or 4 things they would like to have included in the picture: animals, objects, or whatever. For more information, visit the Portrait page. David can be contacted at thebeewithwheels@aol.com.
Be sure to visit the new, improved Cherry Peel page.
Tourdates for April & May are now posted! Scroll down and look left to find when Of Montreal are coming to a venue near you. Marshmallow Coast will be playing with Of Montreal at all shows. Please note: Some of these dates may be subject to change, and we will post updated information as soon as it becomes available. We highly recommend you check back periodically for updates.
In other news, our beloved Separating Sloth is on a bit of a vacation, friends. He was causing too many navigational problems for some of our website's visitors, so we've taken him down from this page. But soon we'll make him a world of his own where he can cavort freely (and you'll be able to visit him anytime you want).
Over and out...Tony
This just in...
Of Montreal is scheduled to play the fabulous Emmaboda festival in Sweden this August! Emmaboda is an annual outdoor festival in the Swedish countryside. More details will be posted here in the near future.

Enjoy! - Jason.
The biggest news is that I will be handing the duties of webmaster to one, Jason Pippin. In the coming weeks you'll notice a complete transformation of the website. I've been too busy with Elf Power and other responsibilities to give my full attention the site. So hopefully, this will right the situation and Of Montreal and it's fans will have a site to be proud of. :)
it's been fun...

The Of Montreal/Marshmallow Coast tour is on its way!
For those lucky enough to make it to one the shows, the bands are selling
a delightful split 7" entitled, Archibald of the Balding
Sparrows. Word has it that Kindercore may be selling a few
of these on their website in the future.
ExcellentOnline
has just published an interview with
Of Montreal. Check it out!
bye! bryan.
Grand news! The Horse and Elephant Eatery (No Elephants Allowed): The Singles and Songles album has been officially released! Bar/None Records is putting this one out.
What is it? The album is a collection of various odds and ends
including singles, compilation tracks, Japanese bonus tracks and also some
unreleased gems. You can take a look at the discography to see
exactly what.
In other news... work still continues on the new album, Coquelicot. Also, plans are afoot for a June tour. For more detailed analysis, you might want to take a look at the Of Montreal Message Board.
cya! Bryan
I'm working on getting some updates from the Of Montreal camp. I've been busying recording with Elf Power so I haven't had much time to keep this page updated recently. Hopefully soon I'll get around to some much needed housekeeping.
In the meantime, I've put some pictures that Dottie gave me eons ago to put up. Go HERE to see the pics. Enjoy! Bryan Helium.
Firstly, Happy New Year from Of Montreal!
OK... and secondly, there is a new Of Montreal Message Board. I hope you find it of some use. :)
Not much new to report. Of Montreal is still hard at work on the Coquelicot album. 8 songs have been finished with about 20 more to go. It sounds fantasmic! okie doke... adios! b.helium
Happy Happy Birthday to Me Records has just released singles by Of Montreal and the Marshmallow Coast. You can order one by writing to hhbtm@aol.com.
Also, for your enjoyment I have placed a MP3 of one of the demos for the new Coquelicot album.
Take a listen:bye bye! bryan helium
Well... geez I've been pretty slack updating the page!
I think this page will move to a new location soon. Angelfire has now
made those annoying banners mandatory, ugh!
Anyways... the gang wants to say what a wonderful time they had on their past tour with the Essex Green and Marshmallow Coast. It was their best tour yet from what I hear.
In the record news department there's a plenty.
Kindercore Records is doing
a singles club this next year. Of Montreal is doing a split single with
the Ladybug Transistor
while My First Keyboard (Dottie's group) will be doing a split
with Marshmallow Coast (Andy's group). I believe these will both
come out early next year. Happy Happy Birthday to Me Records will
be releasing a new Of Montreal single through it's singles club
early next year as well. And then... there's a split single between Kevin
Barnes and myself, Bryan Helium, that will be released in a
limited edition of 250 copies on Jonathon Whiskey Records thru
Norman Records in the
UK.
OK.. those are the singles! Albums in the works are: Singles and Songles. This will be a compilation album that will pull together all those darn bonus tracks on the Japanese releases as well as various singles and a few unreleased bits as well. Bar-None Records will be releasing this biscuit sometime early next year. Of course, there is Coquelicot asleep with the poppies: a variety of whimsical verse which will be the next full length album to be released sometime next year. Recording is well under way and I have to say from what I've heard thus far that it is fantastic! And lastly, Kevin has another album written and ready to record once Coquelicot has been finished. Who knows when this might see the light of day. :)
Oh yeah.. Kindercore Records has released the Marshmallow Coast record, Seniors and Juniors. It's great! You can go buy it at Insound.com.
If you've got any trinkets like live shows or pictures we'd love to add them to the website. Please be in touch!
much lurv... Bryan Helium
Hello!
It seems that an East Coast tour for November is shaping with comrades Marshmallow Coast and the Essex Green. When we have some dates, we'll post 'em!
Also, Kindercore Records will soon release a 7" split by Marshmallow Coast and My First Keyboard. As you may or may not know, these are the main projects of Of Montrealers Andy (Marshmallow Coast) and Dottie (My First Keyboard). Splendid indeed!
adios... b.helium. :)
Not much new to report. Although, Kindercore Records has released the The Gay Parade on vinyl. The LP comes with a bonus 7". The two songs featured are The Problem With April, an Of Montreal original, and A Spoonful of Sugar, a cover of the Gants' song from 1965. The latter featuring Kevin, Derek, Andy and myself vocalising.
Quattro Records in Japan has released The Gay Parade on CD.
The songs on the bonus 7" are included on the CD.
As with all Japanese releases, complete lyrics are included.
Another Japanese label, Philter, has released The Bedside Drama: A Petite Tragedy
and The Bird Who Continues to Eat the Rabbit's Flower.
Each release contains bonus tracks.
Work progresses on the next album, Coquelicot asleep with the poppies: a variety of whimsical verse. A demo of one song from the album, Hello From Inside the Shell, can be heard on the compilation CD just issued as a companion to the Bees Knees fanzine Issue 12.
that's all for now! ... bryan helium
The tour is over! The group is a happy and tired bunch. 5 weeks of gruelling asphalt! They had a blast and wish to thank the countless people (to many to name) who bestowed upon the band their gracious hospitality. Thanx to everybody who took the time to join the March of the Gay Parade!
Ryan Trammel took some pics from the show in Norman, OK.
Go have a look
HERE!
I'll be posting some more pics soon.
luv... Bryan Helium
Of Montreal has just started their huge cross country tour with the fab Ladybug Transistor!
There are still a few more dates to add so check back often within the next week. In particular, the Austin show has been cancelled due to the Electric Lounge, the venue, having been shut down by the city last week. There are attempts being made on a replacement show.
More accurate info soon!
There are some audio samples of The Gay Parade lurking in the Of Montreal Audio Lounge.
I don't think this has been mentioned officially, but Kindercore Records will be releasing The Gay Parade on vinyl quite soon now. A bonus 7", containing "The Problem With April" and another song, will be included.
Thanx to all who have helped me retrieve lost files!
peace+love > Bryan Helium
Of Montreal will be touring with the Ladybug Transistor this Spring. The tour will cover most of the U.S. East and West Coast! Tour dates are being finallized and will be posted soon! l8r, b.helium
Of Montreal's new album, The Gay Parade,
will be released by Bar/None Records on February 16th!
I just found out that
CDNow has it on sale.
For a sneak peek, take a listen to a song from the album.

Mixing of The Gay Parade has resumed and should be completed in a
week or so.
As previously mentioned, Bar/None Records will be releasing the album sometime
early next year.
The album is brimming with thick layers of pop psychedelica.
Dave Barnes has completed the artwork depicting the parade
and some of the
various characters who comprise the festivities. A wonderful treat.
It won't be long now. bye! bryan helium.
I've just added some new photos shot during the tour to the
Of Montreal Photo Gallery.
The fanclub tape is nearing completion. Thanx to all those who have been
waiting so patiently.
:) bryan helium
I'm progressing on the fan club tape. More on that when it's finished.
Of Montreal is trying to book some shows for a tour in July. Keep your fingers crossed. That's all for now... l8r! B.Helium.
Hey! It's been awhile, huh? Well, we finally have news on the upcoming albums.
Kindercore Records will be releasing the next record entitled A Petite Tragedy.
It'll hopefully be out in June. We'll put up a little page soon that will be
totally devoted to the album.
Then in the Fall, Bar-None Records will release
another full-length album, The Gay Parade.
There will be a page up for this album, too.
On another note, I will be compiling a tape of about 30 minutes worth of
unreleased 4-track recordings.
All songs are unreleased. It will be
available only thru this web site.
If you're interested, leave some email.
The more interest there is, the more time I will invest in getting the
project done quickly. :)
the bird who ate the rabbit's flower e.p. has finally been shipped to radio and record stores everywhere. The Kindercore boys seem have it all in gear. :)
Worked still progresses on Of Montreal's two new long players A Petite Tragedy and The Gay Parade. These two separate entities may wind up on a specially priced two CD package. Kevin continues to be prolific. God bless that boy.
Finally, Of Montreal's lineup has changed. Departing is, me, Bryan Helium to devote more time to the lush convines of Elf Power. But fret not, because Of Montreal has become a stronger and bolder entity. Derek Almstead has moved from his drum throne and into the realm of bass. Filling Derek's percussive void drops Jamie Huggins. Jamie has played with other luminaries such as Great Lakes and Little Red Rocket as well as being a budding songwriter in his own right. Completing the newly minted fab four is Dottie Alexander. Stroking the keys, Dottie has her own band, My First Keyboard, as well as playing with Derek in the great Summer Hymns. We'll put some gawky pictures of these people up soon. :)
Well, if you're reading this, you may have noticed that the Of Montreal page has moved!
Hopefully, this will be our home for a good while.
Kindercore Records has released the bird who ate the rabbit's flower e.p.
5 new songs! Look for it at your local wreckerd store.
Bar-None will be releasing Cherry Peel on August 19th. Yeah!
Hopefully, the UPS fiasco won't muck up its sweet delivery to a record store near you.
In other record news, Trade2, a UK label, will be releasing a 7" for its singles club.
The A-side will be 'Baby' from Cherry Peel. The B-side will be a song from the
next Of Montreal album called A Petite Tragedy.
Yes, the second album is nearly
done, but don't expect it to be released anytime soon.
In more record news, the way-hip Japanese label, 100 Guitar Mania!, will be releasing
a single sometime this fall.
More details when they arrive...
Of Montreal's debut album, Cherry Peel, will be released August 19th on
Hoboken, NJ's Bar-None Records.
Bar-None, you might remember, released They Might Be Giants
first two records.
They currently carry people such as Esquivel and the reclusive Chris Mars.
Kindercore Records will be releasing a separate EP titled,
the bird who ate the rabbit's flower.
Hopefully, this will be released in
late September.
Kindercore has been a tour-de-force in coalescing
the often splintered Athens pop scene.
Kevin's brother, Dave, did the fab artwork
for this one.
And believe it or not, there are still more records in the offing.
