A Wall for Freedom's Sake,
A wall stands dark and tall, on its face a scrawl
of the names each and all, who for freedom bled and didst fall
The grass is green up to that hole deep darkness there unfolds
in the earth to place his form another patriot, freedoms price grows
That walls stand shining in the sun abstract along the hill it runs
emerald and teal and skies of blue an altar stained with tears for you
James, Robert, Mary and John, names go endlessly along
so clearly do they tell their tale of fathers sobs and mothers wails
Of youth so beautiful and fair, of daring and fear and devil may care
of darkness and nights alone, of courage and honor freely shown
So when your pilgrimage brings you there. at the alter you stand and stare
remember please the cost shared, the cost of freedom on that wall there
