Ne Plus Ultra: Modern rock in pre-packaged, user friendly delivery box that will make you smile. But things weren't always this nice...... "Indie rock," said the young, virulent Andrew Prater, surprizing his lumberjack parents with his choice of first words. "Want rock!" said a still-diapered Matt Hudgins with his premiere vocal experience. "That one sure did stink!!" said Brent Manous, his first utterance of sound. But fate would not bring these young prodigies together until 15 years later as their relationships with the rest of creation dwindled, leaving them with only each other. In their pre-Ne days, however, they all shone as solo musicians in other projects. Matt for example, was a frequent guest artist on Peewee's Playhouse, and was actually that great comedian's understudy until a nasty break between the two as the result of Matt's turning state's witness against Peewee in a viscious court battle involving an incident in a theatre in which Matt would have also been indicted, had he not worked out a plea deal with the D.A.'s office. He then helped form Van Halen and Poison before learning to play drums. Meanwhilst, a more angry Andrew Prater was raised with a closer link to nature in the forests of Washington, idling away his time chopping down trees with his lumberjack parents and killing endangered species' of owls. At the age of 12, however, a befuddled and sexually disoriented young Prater boy fell asleep deep in the Northwestern wilderness, only to be raised by a hippie commune of nude girraffes and penguins. The rich milk of the giraffes helped him develop into a robust young man of 13 ready to set off on his own, at which point he left for th midwest, where he approached puberty on the back of a wild buffalo, chasing down unruly cattle and giving the meat to the poor giraffes and penguins of that area of our fair land. He is not one to forget a favor. Not much is known about Brent's life before 1987, when he was selected from an applicant pool of 12 to play bass for the classic rocker YNGWIE MALMSTEEN. After 2 assassination attempts at the band leader's life, though, he was asked to leave the band. After a brief stint in the marines (he reached the rank of Boot Scrubber 1st Class)he responded to an add in the New York Times requesting a former-heavy metal, classicaly trained funk/folk/punk/country bassist. And so, Ne Plus Ultra was formed. After former singers Frank Sinatra, Henry Rollins, Gwen Stefani, and JFK Jr. all left the band, then guitarist Andrew Prater took over vocal duties, they fired their pit orchestra, keyboard player, and cage dancers, jumped on the alternative bandwagon with the name Bush, only to have to scrap their first project, 16 Stone after a travelling band of english Nirvana impersonaters stole the demos and rerecorded the whole thing, making millions off of the creative ideas of Brent, Matt, and Andrew. They then wrote some crap and renamed themselves Ne Plus Ultra. Which brings us to the present. THE END
